Traumatized Ex-Capitol Cop Fears For His Safety Amid Trump's Jan. 6 Pardons
Traumatized Ex-Capitol Cop Fears For His Safety Amid Trump's Jan. 6 Pardons
- 9 minutes
A cop says he is in fear.
For his life after Trump pardoned
the Jan six rioters.
All right, so this is a former DC officer.
And let's put it up.
[00:00:18]
Full mass will remind you
of what that crowd looked like.
Okay. That's terrifying.
Let's go to the video.
And let's talk about the individuals
that that were pardoned.
Daniel Rodriguez sentenced to more than 12
years in prison after he pled guilty
[00:00:37]
and admitted to using a Taser device,
applying it to the base of my skull
numerous times while I was being
restrained in a crowd, and assaulted.
Albuquerque, Cosper head from Tennessee,
placed me in a headlock.
[00:00:56]
Pled guilty.
This is the rider
that if you watch my body worn camera
footage yelled out, I've got one!
As he dragged me out into the crowd.
Thomas Sibbick, who while I was restrained
and being assaulted, ripped my badge
and my radio from my police vest.
[00:01:15]
Kyle Young, who again while I was
being restrained and assaulted,
tried to remove my firearm from its
holster as he violently assaulted me.
Because of Donald Trump's actions,
my family is less safe.
[00:01:32]
Yeah, Donald Trump is anti-police, right?
Has to be.
I mean, he's an officer who was assaulted
illegally by multiple individuals.
Donald Trump said, let him go.
What he did wasn't that bad.
He was standing up for America.
[00:01:51]
Put it up full mass.
After Trump pardoned nearly 1500 criminal
defendants charged in the Jan six Capitol
terrorist attack, former DC officer
Michael Fanone feared for his safety.
The man pictured in the red circle.
[00:02:10]
Dragged the officer on that day.
Physically assaulted, dragged him.
There's witnesses. There's video.
You even have people
who have pleaded guilty.
They said, yeah, I did it. Take me away.
Trump said, oh no, no, no,
it's not your fault.
[00:02:27]
It's not really your fault.
He continued to recount the threats he
has already experienced since appearing as
a witness before the select congressional
committee investigating the event.
My family is less safe.
We have suffered threats
and acts of violence almost immediately
[00:02:44]
after my congressional testimony
in the select committee hearing.
In fact, I didn't even make it
through my testimony before I received
the first threatening phone call.
My mother has been the victim
of swatting incidents.
She has had bricks thrown at her home
in the middle of the night.
[00:03:00]
And recently, while she was raking
the leaves in her front yard,
she had an individual pull up a rock,
pull up in a truck, excuse me,
and throw a bag of ish On her.
This is the type of conduct and behavior
that we've experienced for four years.
[00:03:20]
And quite frankly,
law enforcement has been feckless
in its attempts to protect us and prevent
these types of crimes from occurring.
Speaking with Morning
Joe host on Wednesday,
the officer the former officer explained
that he was going through the process
[00:03:38]
of securing protective orders
against some of those involved
who he believed could do harm to his,
harm to him or his family.
Rounding on Trump's pardons,
the former officer said that he expected
[00:03:55]
more threats and potentially violence
to come his way as a result,
saying that the Trump administration
had put a target on his back.
Now, this is going to be an irony,
above all ironies here.
Let's put it up. Let's go to the.
[00:04:14]
Let's go to the Fraternal Order of Police.
So the police union.
The same police union that endorsed
Donald Trump during the 2024 election
has condemned President Trump
[00:04:32]
over his pardon of the Jan six rioters.
Okay, so they released a joint statement.
They condemn it.
Now, remember, they endorsed him
knowing that he said what he said.
[00:04:49]
That they are patriots,
that he is likely going to pardon them.
They are great Americans, the Fraternal
Order of Police, they still endorse them.
And then they released this.
Well, we endorse them, but we really
don't like what he did with this.
[00:05:06]
You have the question.
Is the police for the police?
Because I'll be damned if I'm paying dues,
and I'm a union member
of whatever fraternal union.
[00:05:21]
And somehow a politician
is able to get more favor than me.
And I'm a member of the organization.
What the hell is going on?
They still endorsed him
even though they don't like this part.
How did Trump come to the decision?
[00:05:38]
All right, so white House source told
Axios on Wednesday, how this all happened,
and came to favor the one blanket gesture.
So Trump said F it. Release them all.
[00:05:56]
That's it.
That's how he came to the decision that
they were going back and forth about how
to do it and and the protocol and how to.
And Trump said, f it. Release them all.
[00:06:13]
There you have it. Let me say this.
I really hope Democrats are taking notes.
I am.
I hope progressives are taking notes.
It will be yours again.
Believe that this pendulum
will swing back to the left.
[00:06:32]
This is an opportunity for some learning
to happen now while Trump is
the evil empire, no question about it.
His decisions are swift,
his actions are bold.
[00:06:48]
His team well.
They understand their assignment.
The question is, do we understand
ours being thoughts?
This is the America excuse me
that we're living in now.
[00:07:03]
We're not living
in the United States of America.
We're living
in the United States of Trump.
There's no world in which these actions
make sense as what's best for our nation.
There's only the world where these
actions make sense for what's best.
[00:07:18]
For Trump, he tried to overthrow
the certification of an of an election
he didn't like the results of.
That's treason.
He ginned up his insurrection,
and then he now.
[00:07:33]
Pardons the people who committed it,
including the violent ones.
Including all of them.
And you'll notice
this is how a dictatorship.
Takes hold.
How an authoritarian takes hold.
Because his vice president, JD Vance,
and many of his top people
[00:07:50]
during the campaign said, well,
he's going to pardon the nonviolent ones,
but we all agree pardoning the violent
ones is something that should not happen
and won't happen.
Then, as soon as Trump does it,
I guarantee you J.D.
Vance isn't going to say a word about it.
- Not a.
- Damn thing.
[00:08:05]
When he gets called out on it
in an interview,
he's going to say, well, you know,
they've already served plenty of time.
And I'm now repeating
exactly what Trump says.
You can see the fear
of standing up to the Dear Leader.
That happens
even in his second in command.
[00:08:21]
Already on Inauguration Day, when he goes
and speaks for about 45 seconds before
Trump, before he risks Trump getting upset
that he's stealing his spotlight.
And all he says is, it sure is a cold one.
And how amazing Donald Trump
brought us inside.
[00:08:39]
Go ahead and speak now
for an hour and a half, sir.
It is a nation that is to serve
one person now and he's unleashed.
It doesn't matter if his demeanor
is quieter because he's older and tired
[00:08:55]
or more tired.
He is doing the things
that are just crumbling.
The very nature of what any good nation,
let alone a great one, stands for.
Police officers were beaten.
Some of them lost their lives over this.
[00:09:14]
And Trump doesn't care
because he won't lose support
over his brainwashed supporters.
And this again, is day one. Day two.
God forbid what we're in store
for over the next four years.
[00:09:31]
There you go.
