The Young Turks: August 20, 2013

A Mexican Congresswoman is catching heat for her comments about gay sex, deeming it unworthy of marriage since both partners can’t look each other in the eyes.  More on the possibility of Janet Yellin getting the Fed job over Larry Summers.  Neil Irwin of the Washington Post outlined some very positive characteristics of Yellin, claiming that they are negatives in getting the job.  Potential fallout from the British detention of Glenn Greenwald’s partner David Miranda at London Heathrow airport.  Miranda plans on filing charges against the government for their actions.  British officials responded by claiming that they have the right to protect their national security by reclaiming stolen information that can assist terrorists. Although the British government denied knowledge of detaining Miranda and involving America in the plan, the WH Spokesman admitted that we were given a heads up beforehand.  He also continuously pointed out that Britain carried out the detention on their own, without any direction from the U.S.  The editor of the Guardian revealed that the publication was threatened by the British government before thugs were sent in to destroy the hard drives that seemingly contained the info.  Cenk points out that this is reminiscent of what the Gestapo would do.  Ted Cruz’ birther drama continues.  Since he has dual citizenship with both USA and Canada by birth, he renounced his Canadian citizenship.  In talking about the situation with Mary Matalin, he claimed that he must be a threat and doing something right since some people are criticizing him.  Ted Cruz’ camp went after Rand Paul’s group, claiming that his birth is an issue. A Chief Rabbi in Britain said that multiculturalism has had its day and we should move on.  Rupert Murdoch tweeted in agreement with the Rabbi, pointing out that Muslims find it the hardest to integrate.  A study checked the voting behavior of our Congressmen, indicating that their votes went in favor of their wealthy constituents, and never in favor of the poor.  Lightning round. Cenk hosting.

The toxicology report on Michael Hastings’ death has come out revealing some traces of marijuana and amphetamines in his system.  Some articles that have been written about it made it seem like Hastings was on marijuana and meth the night of the crash.  These kinds of stories seem to be going out of their way to dispute all of the fishy details of the crash, only to blame irresponsibility on Michael.  The silence of establishment media now that the official story came out shows that they are controlled by the system. Link.  The two female Russian sprinters that kissed while receiving their medals have come out disputing the story that they kissed to protest the anti-gay laws in their country. Link. A video shows a group of men beating a transgender woman in a park.  Ontario police are investigating a woman that wrote a heinous letter to her neighbor over her autistic son, adding that he is better off dead. Member Thanks and #tytlive comments.  A study indicated that 40% of those asked would save an animal before they’d save a human that is an immigrant. Article.  Ukrainian people are more likely to get food poisoning from huge events like weddings due to the immense menu of food that is to be eaten over a 2-3 day span.  Since there is so much food made, all of it can’t be stored properly, allowing it to go bad.  A well-known evolutionary psychologist has released yet another ridiculous theory.  This time it says that a paradox exists with higher IQ women not having children, since they should understand that their purpose in the world is to reproduce, they’re actually being stupid.
