The Young Turks: August 19, 2013

Glenn Greenwald’s partner David Miranda was detained for 9 hours in London’s Heathrow airport while returning from a trip where he met with Laura Poitras about the NSA spying program.  Cenk points out that this move was obviously vindictive for Greenwald’s reporting.  Greenwald promised to continue to report things even more vigorously.  Michael Grunwald of TIME Magazine tweeted that he can’t wait to write the article that defends the drone strike that will eventually take out Julian Assange.  Grunwald’s previous tweets showed disdain for murdered Americans via drone strikes in Yemen.  Chuck Todd exposed himself as another journalist that backs up the moves of the Establishment when he claimed that the RNC made a wise decision to exclude NBC and CNN from their debates. Cenko Unchained segment where Cenk rants about Ted Cruz’ birth certificate talk, finding that since his mother is a U.S. citizen, he is eligible to run for President.  The Egyptian violence continues between the military and the Muslim Brotherhood protesters.  The CIA have finally acknowledged that they organized the coup in Iran back in 1953 that took out the Democratically elected leader. Democrats are rooting for Mitch McConnell in the Republican primary because they think it will be easier to beat him in the general election.  The candidate running against McConnell somehow found a way to be to the right of Mitch.  Cenk’s Amazing Fact of the Day: Democrats in Missouri gave Todd Akin $1.5 million to win his primary so that they could kick his ass in the general election.  A WV Circuit Judge has been indicted on 2 counts of conspiracy for targeting his mistress’ husband with influence and judicial means.
