The Young Turks: November 25, 2014

Ben, Iadarola, and Jimmy Dore finish up the Hour 1 stories about Ferguson, MO. Misty Kingma then replaces  Iadarola for SCS. Don Lemon spoke with Jesse Jackson about the riots in Ferguson and wondered why this didn’t happen in the Civil Rights days of MLK. Jackson pointed out that we had the Watts, Chicago, Detroit, and Newark riots in the ‘60s over police violence. Jimmy goes off on Don Lemon’s latest remarks on CNN. Videos of Elizabeth Hasselbeck on Fox and Friends talking with a friend of Darren Wilson, trying to paint him and his family as the victim. A transgender woman that died of a brain aneurism was prepared to be buried to look like a man when she lived as a woman. After a 9 year old schoolgirl with a lower IQ was sexually assaulted by a boy, the school counselor claimed that her lower IQ would allow her to not become depressed over the horrible situation. The decision to make these claims backfired on the school as they had to pay even more money in damages. A 17 year old high school student was busted for running a prostitution ring via Facebook and using 15 year old girls as the targets. Jimmy goes off on how much he hates Facebook. New FDA rules will put calorie counters on businesses’ menus. Misty likes this idea, while Ben doesn’t want to read how much crap he’s eating. Cannabis stores in Colorado are planning serious Black Friday sales for marijuana paraphernalia. Misty isn’t into smoking because of the way it makes her feel. Ben, Iadarola, and Jimmy Dore hosting. The Grand Jury decision to not indict Darren Wilson was announced by the prosecutor last night. Video of him wrongfully outlining the duty of a grand jury and his role in dismissing the chance for charges. Video of Bob McCulloch blaming the media and social media for disrupting the investigation before discrediting the witnesses against Wilson’s story. Ben talks about McCulloch’s 0-5 record for getting an indictment for police officers that kill unarmed citizens, illustrating his lack of desire for taking killer cops to trial. A young McCullouch also lost his police officer father to a murderous suspect when he was 6 years old. Video of the prosecutor telling the version of the encounter that supports Darren Wilson’s story, including that Wilson recognized Michael Brown from the robbery call. Video of the Ferguson Police chief telling reporters in August that Wilson’s interaction with Brown had nothing to do with the store robbery, directly contradicting McCulloch’s story. The Washington Post published a story that showed an extremely low number of cases come back without an indictment. Video of President Obama speaking out against violence in response to the Ferguson Grand Jury decision. Ben doesn’t agree with the criticism of Obama’s comments. Jayar talks about wanting action, as there is nothing ever wrong with Obama’s words. Details of Wilson’s testimony was revealed from the Grand Jury documents. The common denominator was that he was deathly afraid of Michael Brown and his large size.
