John, Cenk, Jimmy, and Dave host the hour 1 power panel. Chuck Hagel announces sweeping changes to the US nuclear force. Spending will increase by 10% the next ten years. The panel believes that a possible reason for the increased spending might have to do with recent Russian talks about their nuclear program. President Obama announces a 3 billion dollar donation to fight climate change in 3rd world countries along with other world leaders. Cable news coverage of Ebola did not generate increased ratings, in fact their ratings declined compared to other months. Jimmy rants about how terrible cable news has become over time and gives a recent example of a report by Luke Russert. The panel gives their own examples of how cable and network news has become predictable and dishonest. Conservative news site ‘American News’ posted an article, from a satirical site, about the first person to die from a Death Panel. The person who they believed was killed was actress Bea Arthur, who passed away years ago. Rassmussen ran an a poll that asked how many people believe that Obamacare is ‘stupid’. Ana replaces Dave on the power panel for hour 2. Dr. Matt Taylor, the scientist who help out in the recent Rosetta Mission is receiving backlash after being seen wearing a button down shirt featuring women in lingerie in an interview. Dr. Taylor later addressed the faux controversy by offering a tearful apology on video. The wife of oil tycoon, Harold Hamm, tried to get half of his fortune, of 10 Billion dollars, in a divorce case but she eventually settled for One Billion. In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Journalist, Malcolm Gladwell, rips the NFL and football in general for being a ‘moral abomination’. The panel compares football to other violent sports and wonder why is it always the focus of attention when there are other sports like boxing and MMA that cause more physical damage yet don’t receive the same amount of scrutiny as the NFL. An exorcism is conducted outside of a Starbucks in Austin Texas. The panel wonders about the validity of the video. The government of Uganda has an arrest warrant for a Ugandan pop star after nude pictures of her were leaked on the internet. Malcolm Fleschner, Steve Oh, and David Koller host this Friday post game show. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has autorized the city to refund anyone who received a parking ticket for a street cleaning violation when the street wasn't actually cleaned. This new change comes much to the delight of former Young Turks employee, Tom Hanc, who complained about this in the past. The guys talk about the premiere of the Young Turks documentary "Mad as Hell" and share their reactions. Totally True or Totally Bullshit: • Arkansas Governor plans to pardon his son who was convicted on possession of marijuana with intent to distribute charges. Despite the controversy of nepotism, this action will start a much needed conversation on drug law enforcement. TTOTB? • After Obama announced that Loretta Lynch would be nominated to replace Eric Holder as Attorney General, the conservative website Breitbart.com ran a lengthy article exposing that Lynch represented the Clintons during the White Water scandal. It turns out the attorney was not the same Loretta Lynch up for approval. Breitbart made a correction, but it was inconspicuous and they left the original article up on the site for over a day. The piece was taken down only after other media outlets called attention to the error.  This is an example of the media being able to police itself. TTOTB?
