The Young Turks: June 23, 2014

Ana is back from her Spanish vacation and joins Cenk for SCS.  Correction on a story about an Irish orphanage that was reported to deny baptisms to the children.  Cenk doesn’t care about this minor correction.  The important mistake in reporting this story was the number of kids that were supposedly thrown into the septic tank after dying.  A male gay couple in Texas has been denied their parental rights to their biological twin babies that they had through a surrogate simply because the state doesn’t recognize gay marriage.  Their names were banned from being put on the birth certificate.  Research shows that judges with daughters are more likely to rule in favor of women and women’s rights in gender related cases.  Studies have found that people with more cortisol in their blood are less likely to vote.  More cortisol is found in people that are stressed out.  They concluded that stressed voters are more likely to stay at home on election days.  Cenk speculates that this is possibly taken into account when Conservative campaigns look to create more stress on the voting block that may not vote for them. A famous fashion photographer has been accused of sexual misconduct with many of the women he’s done photo shoots with.  A U.S. exchange student got himself stuck inside of a structure of a vagina in Germany.  After nearly 22 emergency personnel came to help free him from the vaginal fortress, he’s made international news.  A Spiderman performer in Times Square has been arrested for sexually assaulting a woman by grabbing her breasts and butt. Exposing sexual myths.  Frequency of masturbation and sex between single people and married couples.  The average penis size, the number of calories burned during sex. Show notes by Jayar Jackson

Cenk hosting today.  The 2nd state has passed an amendment that calls for a convention to get money out of politics.  That state is the big state of California, following in the steps of Vermont.  Cenk talks about the heroes that helped make this happen.  The approval rating of Congress has reached an all time low of any institution ever, of 7%.  The civil war in Iraq continues to escalate now that ISIS has begun to merge Iraq and Syria by taking over the border of the country. A GOP Catfight between Dick Cheney and Rand Paul.  Paul pointed out that the blame of the Iraq War falls on the Bush Administration.  Cheney responded by calling him an isolationist and called for troops to be reinserted into Iraq and Syria to also arm and train the rebels in Syria.  A poll shows that a majority of Americans don’t want us to re-enter Iraq.  John Bolton and Dick Cheney dodged questions about their original bad plan to go into Iraq by claiming we’re wasting time by bringing up old news that happened 10 years ago.  Conservative bully and anti-Muslim propagandist Brigitte Gabriel clashed with a real expert on terrorism and Islamists on CNN where she got her ass kicked around. Three Al Jazeera journalists have been convicted in Egypt and sentenced to 7 years in prison. Show notes by Jayar Jackson
