Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz, Jimmy Dore, and Richard Eskow hosting from YouTube Space LA. It’s a power panel! A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows devastating results for the GOP. The GOP is unequivocally being blamed for the government shutdown and the failure of its resolution. President Obama’s approval rating has actually gone up amid the shutdown. The approval of the ACA has gone up as well. Republican Senator Mike Lee of Utah, arguably the most conservative state in the US, is polling unfavorably also and yet he refuses to change his position. Rush Limbaugh thinks the GOP is about to “snatch defeat from the jaws of victory” despite the poll results. The power panel breaks it all down. Bill O’Reilly, in an interview with Brit Hume, goes on a loony tirade against the “weasels” in the Obama administration for “stonewalling” over the government shutdown and inexplicably attacks Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel in the process. John Stossel hits the street to interview welfare recipients and plays a game of gotcha, asking shamelessly leading questions to reinforce his unempathic views of the poor. He then gets pats on the back from Fox and Friends for shedding light on the “culture of dependency”. In a letter to Republican Rep. Jack Kingston, Georgia resident Paul Kaplan humorously bellyaches over the “liberal” Los Angeles Dodgers beating the Atlanta Braves in the NLDS.

Eboni K. Williams joins Cenk, Jimmy, and Ben for the second hour. Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson’s 2 year old son dies after being allegedly assaulted by his mother’s violent ex-con boyfriend. The body of 17 year old Kendrick Johnson was exhumed for further investigation after his death was ruled accidental and the result of positional asphyxiation when he was rolled up in a gym mat. After his body was taken out of the grave, investigators found that his body and skull were mysteriously stuffed with newspaper and could not undergo further autopsy. A 15 year old boy kills himself after being put on the sex offender registry for streaking at a high school football game. Cenk reads member shoutouts and the names of Indiegogo donors. A woman is literally kicked off of a metro train while holding the doors open and conversing with someone on the metro platform. A woman is brutally thrown face-first into a metal bench in a jail cell in Chicago by a corrections officer for seemingly no reason. The assault was caught on tape by a surveillance camera. The woman required facial reconstructive surgery and a metal plate. Rick Reilly’s father in law, a native american, was misquoted when Reilly claimed that the NFL team name “Redskins” was not offensive to him. The father in law set the record straight.
